Last Year's Winter!

I've been telling you a lot about this years winter but now that I think about it, I want to tell you about the stuff I made last year. I did a lot so I'm just going to list the two major things I made last year. I actually didn't do this until the snow died down a bit but they still turned out awesome!!!! Okay, the first one was a snowman. Not the classical three balls and a face snowman, but a snowman that I sort of sculpted. I bunched up the snow and molded it into a body, and then a head. The second and last major things was a fort. I took a bucket filled half of it with snow, patted it down, and turned it upside down like a sandcastle, making a cylinder. I kept doing this and stacked the "bricks" on top of each other into a wall like structure. I have some pics here, so you might be able to do this yourself! :)

Sledding With Friends

Yesterday I was sledding with 2 neighbors and the snow hated 2 out of 3 of us. See, we were at one of our houses and there was an awesome hill. Well, it was high, erect for sledding, and at first it was great. But as we went down more and more, they curve broke. It didn't literally break, it made us wipeout every time we passed it. We ended up making a new track, so it looked like a Y. You could either go one way or the other. Oh! I have got to tell you this one last thing where we had to climb up and and sit on the edge of the hill on our sleighs, then push ourselves off, but I went backwards two times. I didn't go up far enough so me and the sled and I just slid back. I actually enjoyed it. Before I sign off, I want to tell you that 3 hilarious times when the sled went one way and I fell the other. I slipped and the sled and I just went purr separate ways. I will leave now, and let you do what you will with these thoughts. :):):):)

Snowballs And Snowmen

Well, yesterday the snow plow came. My driveway and the street is clean, but it made some awesome snow piles. What does that lead to? Sledding, nah we already did that. Snowball fight!!!!!!!! Me my friend and 4 other neighbors split up teams and had a huge snowball fight. They snuck up on us with huge boulders of snow and through them at us! Well, actually they didn't sneak up on us. We saw them and it was easy to tell they were coming so it didn't do any harm. See, they were fast kids with good arms so it was pretty much just grab snow, throw it, and duck! I got them a couple of times and I got nailed in the eye and cheek twice! It was surprisingly fun! Anyways, forget about snowball fights, 2 of those kids and I went to my friends house and made a snowman!!! My first classic three snowballs and a face snowman. Actually, we couldn't find rocks or sticks so we use Mr.Potato Head parts. A mouth, eyes, two plastic arms. But the nose was a baby carrot! After we took a picture, I proclaimed my feet were cold and went inside. After I left they made another snowman, that was a boy. It was cool. I had a fun day today and I hope I have more like this.

My Second Tread Into The Snow

As my winter adventure continues, I went out again with my friend to experience more fun. This, time we both treaded through the snow to her house and back. We did that to get sleds. Every year, a huge, smooth, sled perfect, hill gets formed on the side of my house. Last year, we never really went down it, because it wasn't as good. But this year, it was perfect. We wanted to go down it, but we had to get sleds. Unfortunately they were at my friends house across the snow covered street. It was a little easier this time because we had footprints to step in. We finally reached her house, got two bright orange sleighs and pulled them back to the hill. At first we had trouble getting it on to the hill without sinking, but we figured it out. We slid and slid until we couldn't anymore. By then, our mouths were dry with the wind, so we got water. Until we could do no more we slid. But finally, we were tired. And so, the tale of winter time fun drew to a close. Or has it?......

Crazy Kid, Walking In The Snow Like That

Hey! SO as you probably know, the snow has been coming down hard where I live, and yesterday I played in it. I played in it again today, but the height of the snow drastically increased to 3 ft. The effect of that was that my mom wouldn't let me past our porch. So, I decided to make a snowman right in front of our door. :) I was making the bottom part of the snowman when I looked up and saw my friend waving to me. I waved back and went back to work. Little did I know that she had started to tread through the treacherous snow. I began to feel bored and looked up to see her halfway through the 100+ ft street just to come here. I wanted to tell her to stop or run out and help her, but she just kept doing it. Sadly I was confined to the small space that is my porch. Soon she had arrived and we met on the steps. We were talking about her new flat screen T.V. when we were sadly awakened. My friends mom had called her inside. After five minutes of sitting  down, she had to go back to treading the snow. I truly felt sorry for her. Oh well, we are actually going to come outside again soon. See ya!

Think Time!

Ever run out of ideas? Can't think? Well that happened to me quite a few times until I found a solution! Whenever I'm in my class and we have to come up with stories, I usually think of one, but sometimes I can't. The thing I do to fix this was pretty simple. ( ways to solve writer's block specifically is in my post "Writer's Block" in the month of November) All I did was put a blank piece of paper in front of me, hold a ready to go pen or pencil in my hand, and think about all things related to writing. Think of it as trying to grab on to a swinging rope. You have to watch that rope and when it hits you, you grab it as quick as you can and don't let go. Now convert that to this technique. Think carefully, but freely, and right when you feel a spark go of, grab the idea and write it down on the paper. There is an idea in everything. This is not just for writing. You can use this for anything that envoloves ideas. For example, I'm typing this post right now and I think, what if the computer was alive and it communicated by typing by itself? Boom, now I just have to write that down before I forget.
Hope this helps!

P.S. Very Important! Write the idea down as soon as you get it, or it'll escape through a tiny whole in your mind and won't come back.

White Out

Snow. it can be beautiful, deadly, pleasant, and bitter. Right now, where I live, our town is supposed to get 2-3 feet of snow. My mom is not pleased at all. Anyway, I was outside with my friend, making snow angels, riding on her sleds, and having a snowball fight with our neighbors. We were discussing what we got for Christmas, Ill tell you about that in the end, when my friend said the words " we are supposed to have a white out," and I said to her, " I've heard of a blackout, but what is a white out?" I realized my friend had come up with a new term. White out meant so much snow that you can't even see your neighbor's house. May I note that this conversation was two hours ago, and now, it is officially a white out. Well, now for the real deal. For Christmas I got presents from friends and these were it.
A genetics and DNA kit
A webkinz
A ring and bracelet
A puzzle book
A weekly organizer
A handmade hat

Makeshift Tree

Every year, we never get a Christmas Tree. Because my family doesn't celebrate Christmas. But, this year, I got quite a few gifts from friends, so let's just say. I made a tree. Actually, it is a roll of wrapping paper with a blanket wrapped around it, yarn ball ornaments, and a snowman tree topper. I put all my gifts around it, and can't wait to open them!! I guess the Charlie Brown Christmas special was right. It just needed love.

Walking Through a Corporate Wonderland...

Ohhhh, the holidays. In my perspective, it is the happiest time of the year. To me, one major part of the holidays is stores. Let me tell you about walking through a gift shop wonderland during the holidays. Lets start with Walgreen's. This is the case with a lot of retail stores, but so far, Walgreen's has won the prize. I was actually there today, getting gifts, when I felt I had to write about it. There was this one aisle, with Santa Hats, Stockings, glass angels, Mikey Mouse Jack in the Boxes, Snow globes galor! I would have bought everything if i could've. I really enjoyed these mini metallic trees with jingle bells hanging off the tips. Oh, and I can't forget the candy! Chocolate, chocolate, we actually went to Dunkin Donuts afterwards! Speaking of Dunkin Donuts, that is second place in my holiday tour. They had tinsel, bows, ornaments everywhere. But, what really impressed me was the tree. What makes the ones at Dunkin Donuts special, is the ornaments. You have your regular shiny globes and swirls, but what about food? Yes, plastic food.
"I would like a chocolate frosted donut with sprinkles please."
" Oh, yes very popular, it is right over there on the tree."
Seriously, donuts on trees. There was even little coffee containers! It made me hungry just looking at it!

Well, that is it for now, but I'll keep you updated on any other Corporate wonderlands.

Decision Time!

So, with only a few days till' Christmas, time to make some presents. You can buy them, but when you make presents, the person you give it to, will feel that you care enough to put your time and effort into them. Anyways, I bought a couple things but all my friends are going to get a homemade present this year.

The only problem with this, is trying to figure out what to make for your buddy. It is the century old problem of knowing what to get, but from what I've learned, is that something that fits a person's personality. The thing is, if you are getting a present for him or her, you know them well enough to make a present. What is their favorite thing to do? To eat? Animal? Anything!

Once you've figured out what you want to make, you simply make it! I suggest making a specific tag, and maybe make the wrapping paper yourself! Put your love and heart into it. Remember, Christmas is about giving, not getting.

December Wall

I love the holiday season. The lights, the cheer, and all the decorations. Every year, I love to decorate my room for the holidays so that I feel joyful. Here is a tip for turn your room or any room in to a holiday wonderland!
You'll need some paper, coloring utensils, glitter, tape, and some optional string.
First, draw ornaments, lights, menorahs, wreaths, Santa Hats, and other symbols of the holidays.
Color them, and make them sparkle! Then cut them out, and tape them all over a wall.
Next, if you are going to use the string, start at one corner and move about 1 ft. on the string and tape  them about 11 in. away from your starting point.
Then keep draping it until you get to the end.
Lastly, step back and admire your work.

Joy to the World...
